Product Description
French Antique 18th Century Limestone Trough FI101-01.OL is defined by its heavy, weathered surface. The exterior is cloaked in a deep green patina, a natural layer of moss and age that covers the pale grey-beige limestone core. The rim is thick and uneven, with edges that have been rounded and softened by exposure rather than shaped by tools.
At 77 inches wide, this trough functions as a primary landscape feature. It works effectively as a water basin or reflecting pool, where the dark, mineral-stained interior adds depth to the water. It also serves as a raised planter for a grove of small olive trees, where the 26-inch height keeps the planting visible while maintaining an open line of sight across the garden.
The interior surface remains rough and dry, holding shadows in the chalky texture of the stone. Subtle waves in the walls and irregularities along the lip prevent the form from looking manufactured. Placed on crushed gravel or weathered cobbles, the green patina connects visually with the surrounding landscape. This integration eliminates the stark look of new materials, giving the garden a mature, established appearance.
