Product Description
French Antique 19th Century Limestone Wellhead FK101-32 is a square-profile block featuring a deep circular opening carved into its center. The limestone surfaces are heavily weathered with a rich patina of dark ash-grey and charcoal staining, layered with bright white mineral bloom and scattered patches of golden ochre. Several rusted iron pins remain anchored into the top rim, providing sharp, dark metal points that contrast against the pale, sun-bleached stone.
The exterior faces are rugged and deeply textured, showing the blunt corners and surface pitting earned from over a century of outdoor exposure. Inside the circular throat, the hand-worked stone reveals a rhythmic texture of chisel marks that catch the light in deep, shifting shadows. A small rectangular notch is worn into one side of the top rim, marking the stone's functional history as a working piece of architectural salvage.
This well head serves as a broad, grounded center for a courtyard or garden entry. The heavy square mass provides a fixed visual anchor, while the deep circular opening pulls the gaze downward into the shadowed interior. Whether used as a sculptural fountain reservoir or a low-profile planter, this weathered limestone block brings a raw, architectural honesty to the landscape that defines the scale and character of the surrounding space.
