French Antique Half Moon Limestone Trough FI101-19.A uses its shape to become part of the architecture. The flat back allows the piece to press intimately against a wall, leaving no shadow or gap behind it. The exterior face is deeply scarred and textured, with pits and rough gouges that hold pools of shadow. The palette is a soft wash of chalky cream and beige, peppered with iron spots that look like rust.

The rim is thick and rolled, worn down to a soft curve that begs to be touched. A single, weathered hole in the side marks its history as a working vessel. At 33 inches wide, it is large enough to hold a significant planting of trailing rosemary or ivy, which softens the stone’s hard edges.

Place this trough against a smooth stucco or brick facade. The contrast is immediate: the craggy, ancient stone against the flat wall. It creates the illusion of a forgotten architectural relic, grounding the space with a heaviness that feels purposeful and permanent.
