Product Description
French Antique Mile Marker FI102-39 is a limestone block with a distinct, rounded profile. The pale grey stone shows a clear physical division between the weather-smoothed upper face and the rough, rock-faced base. Faint traces of original red pigment cling to the upper carvings, adding a subtle warmth to the cool stone.
The object possesses a found artifact quality. Deeply hand-carved inscriptions read "7 K" and "IX EN OTHE," preserving specific geographic coordinates in the hard limestone. The lettering retains sharp edges in some spots while blurring into the dusty beige surface in others. A band of natural green moss stains the middle section, creating a permanent earth-tone stripe across the face. The texture shifts from fine grit at the top to deep, irregular gouges at the bottom.
Place this marker at the start of a garden path or beside a gate to create a specific visual point. Indoors, it works as a vertical sculpture in a narrow hallway where side lighting can reveal the depth of the letters. The narrow 7-inch depth allows the piece to sit close to the wall without blocking foot traffic.
