Product Description
French Antique 19th Century Limestone Wellhead FK101-18.O is a square, low-profile block featuring a deep circular throat carved through its center. The limestone is a palette of ash gray and beige, layered with heavy charcoal weather staining and scattered lichen. A small, precise hole is drilled into one corner of the top rim, and a shallow notch is worn into the center of the base, marking the stone's functional 19th-century history.
The exterior faces are rugged and gritty, with blunt, rounded corners earned from over a century of outdoor exposure. Inside the opening, the limestone reveals a tight, hand-worked texture of rhythmic chisel marks that catch the light in deep internal shadows. This contrast between the blocky, weathered exterior and the hand-carved interior gives the piece the raw, soulful presence of a salvaged artifact that has spent generations in the elements.
Set this well head as a broad, grounded centerpiece that draws the gaze downward into its shadowed center while preserving open views across the horizon. Its wide, low silhouette provides a substantial stone presence that anchors a space without cluttering the landscape. Whether used as a sculptural fountain reservoir or a low-profile centerpiece, this weathered limestone block brings a rugged, ancient soul to the garden that makes an open space feel finished and deeply rooted in history.
